When I create my artwork, whether that be drawings or paintings, there are essential materials I love to use time and time again. For a comprehensive list of my essential art supplies check out my amazon storefront below. These are materials I have tried and continue to use within my artwork. Please note (at no extra cost to yourself) I receive a small commission on items you purchase with my link on amazon.

1) Drafting table

For drawing I use a large A2+ glass drafting table.

A drafting table both lays flat and tilts upwards at a multitude of angles so that you can work in an upright posture. It’s multi-functionality is advantageous for a number of tasks such as varnishing and packaging.

2) Easel

For painting I use the Mabef lyre easel.
This studio easel supports very large canvases and features an inclinable centre mast so that you can adjust the tilt of the painting to 100% vertical. It’s also perfect for presenting finished artwork.

3) Lighting

I would recommend working by the window so you can get as much natural light as possible. For smaller spaces, I recommend using an LED duo table lamp which clamps to your desk and have adjustable arms. It’s always best to use a neutral white light as this mimics daylight. For advanced lighting, I use professional LED studio lights by NEEWER. These lights are fully adjustable so you can dim and adjust the LEDS to achieve a warm/cool tone.

4) Tripods

Having a standing tripod to secure your camera is very important so you can get steady shots when you are taking photos or recording videos. I use an overhead phone tripod that clamps to my desk to record timelapses when I work. I also have an iPad tripod to secure my iPad which I use for viewing my reference images.

5) Recording

It’s useful to have a second camera besides your phone to record clips of you working and take high quality photos. I have the Sony ZV-1 camera and can recommend it.
